Managed Security – Grey & BRuce
Managed EDR & MDR for Bruce & Grey Businesses
Protect your business from threats that never stop.
Antivirus alone can’t stop modern ransomware. We protect every computer and server with endpoint detection and response (EDR), and on our Advanced and Professional plans, a 24/7 security operations team watches for attacks and shuts them down: managed detection and response (MDR). It’s fully managed by our local team in Southampton, for businesses from Owen Sound to Kincardine.
Proactive
We stop threats before they spread, isolating an infected device in seconds, not after the damage is done.
Comprehensive
Computers, servers, email and web browsing protected in layers, not by a single tool.
Managed
Security experts watch your environment around the clock, so protection is one less thing on your list.
EDR vs MDR
What’s the difference?
| What you get | EDR (endpoint detection & response) | MDR (managed detection & response) |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Software on every computer and server that detects suspicious behaviour and blocks it automatically | EDR plus a 24/7 team of security analysts who investigate alerts and respond |
| Catches | Ransomware, malware, zero-day exploits, suspicious scripts | All of that, plus attacks that need a human to spot: stolen logins, slow-moving intrusions |
| When someone looks | Automated, reviewed by our team during business hours | 24/7/365, including nights and weekends |
| Response | Automatic blocking and isolation | Investigation, containment and remediation by analysts |
| Included in | Every managed IT plan | Advanced and Professional plans |
EDR: your first line of defence
EDR continuously monitors desktops, laptops and servers, watching for behaviour that looks like an attack rather than relying on a list of known viruses. When it spots ransomware encrypting files or a script trying to steal passwords, it stops the process, isolates the device from your network, and rolls back the damage where it can.
MDR: security experts on watch around the clock
Attackers don’t keep office hours. Most ransomware is launched overnight or on weekends, when no one is looking. With MDR, a security operations centre (SOC) investigates every alert 24/7, separates real attacks from false alarms, and contains threats before they reach your data. We handle everything they find and explain it to you in plain language.

Who we protect in Grey-Bruce
Health and community agencies holding client records, professional offices and municipalities. If you supply Bruce Power or the energy sector, our team has worked IT inside one of their contractors and knows the cybersecurity questions you’ll be asked. If your cyber insurance renewal asks about EDR, MDR or 24/7 monitoring, we can help you answer yes, with documentation.
Isn’t antivirus enough?
No longer. Traditional antivirus looks for known viruses. EDR watches behaviour, so it can stop new ransomware and attacks that use legitimate tools, which antivirus misses.
What’s the difference between EDR and MDR?
EDR is the software that detects and blocks threats on each device. MDR adds a team of analysts who monitor those alerts 24/7 and respond to attacks in progress.
What happens when a threat is detected?
The affected device is isolated from your network automatically. Our team, or the 24/7 SOC on MDR plans, investigates, removes the threat, restores what’s needed and tells you what happened.
Does EDR or MDR help with cyber insurance?
Many insurers now ask about endpoint detection, 24/7 monitoring and multi-factor authentication. Our plans cover the first two, and we can optionally set up MFA as part of onboarding.
Will it slow down our computers?
No. The agent is lightweight and most staff never notice it.
Do you protect Macs and servers?
Yes. We cover Windows, Macs, and Linux based devices.
