Patch Management – Grey & Bruce

Patch Management for Bruce & Grey Businesses

Operating systems and applications kept current and secure, automatically.

Every unpatched computer is an open door. We test, schedule and install Windows and application updates across your business, then confirm they worked and report back every month. Patch management is included in every managed IT plan, run by our local team for businesses across Bruce and Grey.

Why Patching matters

Every day a patch waits is a day the door stays open.

What we patch

  • Windows workstations and laptops: security, quality and feature updates
  • Windows Server: scheduled in maintenance windows so business hours aren’t disrupted
  • Third-party applications: browsers, PDF readers, Zoom, Java and other common apps
  • Microsoft 365 apps: Office kept on a supported update channel
  • Firmware and drivers: BIOS and driver updates, firewall firmware

How our patch management works

Assess

We inventory every device and applicatoin and find what’s missing or out of date.

Test

Updates are approved after a testing period, so a faulty patch doesn’t take down your office.

Schedule

Patches install outside business hours, with reboots handled automatically or deferred for users mid-task.

Verify

We confirm every install succeeded and follow up on any device that failed or was offline.

Report

A monthly report shows patch status across your business. Professional adds enhanced reporting and vulnerability testing.

Critical vulnerabilities: when a severe flaw is being actively exploited, we deploy the fix as an emergency patch rather than waiting for the monthly cycle.

Still running Windows 10?

Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, so those PCs no longer get security patches unless they’re enrolled in Extended Security Updates. We can tell you which of your computers can upgrade to Windows 11 and which need replacing, and we stock Lenovo business laptops and desktops in Southampton.

What is patch management?

It’s the process of finding, testing and installing software updates across all your computers and servers, then confirming they worked. Done consistently, it closes the security holes attackers look for.

Can’t Windows just update itself?

Windows Updates covers Windows, but not most third-party apps, and it gives you no testing, scheduling or proof that every device is current. Managed patching handles all of that and reports on it.

Will updates interrupt my staff?

Updates install outside business hours. If a reboot is needed while someone’s working, it’s deferred to a convenient time.

What if an update causes a problem?

We test before rolling out widely, and if an update misbehaves we pause it and roll it back on affected machines.

Do you patch servers?

Yes, during scheduled maintenance windows agreed with you, so business systems stay available during working hours.

Close the gaps before attackers find them.
